Something Strange & Deadly Book Club FINAL WEEK!

Welcome to the final week in the Something Strange & Deadly book club!

If you missed the wonderful discussions last week, be sure to check them out here. I’ve listed all the people who shared their responses with me via the participation prize form and week 3 giveaway form. 🙂

Now, to choose the winner of the third week’s prizes–a signed copy of Goddess Test by Aimée Carter, a signed copy of SS&D or ADS&L, and signed swag…

Caitlin & Laura!

Thank you to everyone who participated, and look below for THE FINAL WEEK’S AWESOME PRIZES! 😉

Oh, and–whether you participate in this book club or not–you’ll definitely want to stop by the Epic Reads discussion board!

In fact, if you join in (or have already) the Epic Reads discussions, you get an extra entry in this week’s giveaway!!

So far, we’ve chatted about these awesome topics:

But there are more topics coming soon! So stay tuned!

In cast you haven’t yet figured out how this book club works: I have the final week’s discussion questions (one for book 1 and one for book 2) below. You have until Monday (9/1) to answer these, and you can answer them anywhere on the web (that’s publicly visible, of course).

One discussion qualifies you for the participation prize. 🙂 What is the prize? A copy of the e-novella A Dawn Most Wicked or an exclusive cut scene from A Darkness Strange and Lovely.

Of course, if you want to be eligible for this week’s REALLY EPIC AND AMAZING giveaway, you’ll want to be sure you answer this week’s discussion question somewhere on the web (publicly visible, of course) before Monday of next week (9/1), when I choose a winner!

This Week’s Giveaway Prizes

  • SIGNED COPY of Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
  • Signed copy of Something Strange & Deadly or A Darkness Strange & Lovely
  • Signed SS&D swag!

To sign up for this week’s giveaway, fill out this form after you’ve answered Week 4’s discussion question. Remember, you can answer EITHER the question for book 1 OR book 2. 🙂

And of course, you can still (if you haven’t yet) sign up for the participation prize by filling out this form after you’ve answered a single discussion question.

Something Strange & Deadly Discussion Question #4

“‘Eleanor, you have a choice,’ [Jie] said softly. ‘You always have a choice’” (p. 166, Something Strange & Deadly)

How do you think this quote relates to the overall theme of Something Strange and Deadly? Do you think Eleanor behaves as if she has a choice at the start of the book? What about at the end of the book? And do other characters behave as if they have a choice or do some see themselves as victims of circumstance?

Fun Extra:

Check out my Pinterest inspiration board for Something Strange & Deadly. I have pictures that evoke the vibe of the series, the characters, the story–everything!

A Darkness Strange & Lovely Discussion Question #4

“‘Eleanor, you have a choice,’ [Jie] said softly. ‘You always have a choice’” (p. 166, Something Strange & Deadly)

How do you think this quote from book 1 continues to apply to A Darkness Strange and Lovely? Particularly with regards to Eleanor’s own magic—both its presence and how she uses it. Do you think she actually has a choice throughout the book? And if so, do you agree with or understand her decisions or actions? What about the actions of other characters?

Fun Extra:

Listen to the playlist for A Darkness Strange & Lovely. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: “Bones” by MSMR could be the theme song to Eleanor’s series! You can also read more about why I picked each song here.

And there we have it, friends! That’s our last discussion for Something Strange & Deadly and A Darkness Strange & Lovely! Boohoo!! 🙁

But stay tuned for another scene playlist–this one applies to a chapter in A Darkness Strange & Lovely–and then on Friday, I’ll have a list of all your awesome final discussions!

Oh, and in case you missed my dream movie casting for Something Strange & Deadly (coming to a theater near you when the world ends), you can check it out it here.

If you have any questions or want to go ahead and share your discussion, feel free to link to it in the blog comments.
