The Next Big Thing Slam Book
So it’s not really a slam book…but sometimes blog memes remind me of those awesome notebooks we used to send around in junior high. By “we” I mean all two friends and me.
ANYWAY, the lovely and wonderful Marie Lu tagged me in this fun little meme, and I thought I’d hop on…and tag three more authors! So, first I say what I’m working on…then I name three authors whose work I love. 🙂
What I’m Working On
Well, yesterday I turned in revisions for A DAWN MOST WICKED.
Hoo-freakin’-ray.
As I have mentioned on MANY occasions, this novella has darn near killed me. First I FINALLY found The Right Story with the how the Spirit-Hunters meet…and then, rightfully so, my editor pointed out that I wasn’t really showing any of Daniel’s relationship with The Girl Before Eleanor. And I spun my wheels trying to figure out why the romance was so flat in my earlier drafts…
And then it hit me like a freaking BUS that IÂ wasn’t in love with Cassidy…so how could I write a convincing romance? I was still seeing her as The Girl Before Eleanor. I know it seems like such an obvious epiphany, but it took me MONTHS to finally see. And even then, it required me writing a few scenes AS Cassidy before I could really identify with her and see why Daniel would give her his heart .
ANYWAY. That just turned into a ramble. Sorry guys.
Now I’m going back to book 3, which needs to be WRITTEN…like…yesterday. 🙂
Authors I ADORE
So, I’m only supposed to mention three…but that seems so SMALL. How do I only pick three?
Well, let’s just say that I have MANY more authors than only three whose books I am anxiously awaiting. But, I decided to not include debuts and instead stick with authors who have sequels I am anxiously, DESPERATELY awaiting. 😉
First and foremost, I have to say…
the UNTITLED third book in the DUSTLANDS trilogy.
I have to thank Erin Bowman (author of TAKEN, which I am very, very excitedly looking forward to in April 2013) for introducing me to this book. I’m going to do a full review for BLOOD RED ROAD on Monday…but…yeah. This series. THIS SERIES.
It will blow you away. And then some.
Next on my list is
Guys…like…guys. LEGEND is amazing, and I actually have an ARC of PRODIGY.
I started it. And put it down because I wasn’t emotionally prepared for it. YES. I kid you not. There are some books I do this with (THE DARKEST MINDS by Alexandra Bracken and the BOOK THIEF come to mind) because either 1) I am afraid they will emotionally cripple me and I have a deadline, or 2) I’m afraid they’ll emotional devastate me and I’ll never write again. This was one of those books. I knew within the first 20 pages that sh** was about to get REAL, and I wasn’t sure I was up to the task…
But I still have that ARC. And it’s gonna be a holiday read when there are no deadlines or self-doubts to worry about. HECK YES.
And finally, a book that caught me by surprise and blew me away…
This is the sequel to UNSPOKEN, and…also a book I am not sure I’ll be emotionally able to read. Now that I know how INTENSE stuff got at the end of book 1 (and it started out so funny and light!), I…may actually need some time before I can handle book 2.
Fortunately, I have a while before it comes out. 😉
Um, and I’m just gonna tack one more of these on here…because 3 just really isn’t enough.
I am a huge, huge, huge fan of Erica’s TORN trilogy. Those books will take you through one emotional roller coaster…made of awesome. She has a new book coming out, and even though I know very little about the story, I know she wrote it. And that guarantees it’ll be good. 🙂
So there you go–my “Next Big Thing” contribution.
Now YOU TELL ME:
What are you working on right now?
And what sequels are you really looking forward to?

Ahhh! So exciting Erica O’Rourke has another book coming! I LOVED that trilogy, too. Next on my list is Sapphire Blue (sequel to Ruby Red)… which I’ve been dying to read for the past 6 weeks but wanted to save it until I could really savour it!

I KNOW, RIGHT? The TORN trilogy is AMAZING. Like…the romance–how did she DO THAT? I never thought I’d be happy with who Mo ended up with…and then I was. I WAS!!! O’Rourke is a master.

I’m working on revising/brainstorming for my second draft of my NaNo 2012 project 😀 Hoping to begin said draft 2 on January 1st.
Somehow I lucked out and won an ARC of Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, book 2 in the Lunar Chronicles. I sent it to my home address because I knew it would not be a good idea to send it to my university address LOL.
So, will be taking the train home on Sunday and looking forward to reading it over the Christmas break.

SCARLET is so good!! I just adored the male leads–let me know what you think. 😉
And yay for revising in the new year! What a good way to start 2013.

I’m working on my 3rd rewrite of my WIP! At this point I have a story skeleton and now I have a time frame, so this should hopefully be easier to put in the missing pieces for the setting. Arg, how many more damn rewrites!? Answer: A lot.
Unspoken looks totally awesome! It’s going on my Amazon wishlist!

Oh gosh, THE REWRITES. I lost count after 12 rewrites/revisions of SOMETHING STRANGE AND DEADLY. And that was before I even got an agent. 😛
And dude, UNSPOKEN is amazing!!! I recommend it SO much!

There are so many series books I want to read: THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT by Veronica Rossi, PRODIGY by Marie Lu, UNRAVEL ME by Tahereh Mafi, BREAKING POINT by Kristen Simmons, REQUIEM by Lauren Oliver, CLOCKWORK PRINCESS by Cassandra Clare and PASSENGER by Andrew Smith. I’m probably most looking forward to SCARLET by Marissa Meyer. I’m so, SO excited for this one because I loved CINDER so much!!! I’m so jealous of anyone who’s read the ARC!
(I also cannot wait for this little sequel called A DARKNESS STRANGE AND LOVELY by a wonderful author named Susan Dennard. I’ve heard she’s quite awesome. And July is so long to wait.)
I also have my own WIP that I really, REALLY need to work on! Guess I won’t just be reading other people’s works during my Christmas break!!

Hahaha. <333 To have you rank my sequel with Cassie Clare and Veronica Rossi…and all those other AMAZING authors, makes my heart soar.
And yes…WIPs….that book 3 of mine ain't gonna write itself, I'm afraid. 😛
