MY BOOK SOOOOOOOLD!!!!!

MY BOOK SOLD!!! MY BOOOOOOK SOOOOOOLD!!!!

I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW I’M SCREAMING AT YOU, BUT I’M JUST SO EXCITED TO SHARE THIS NEWS.

::takes deep, calming breaths::

Yes, so The Spirit-Hunters sold.  Two weeks ago, HARPER FREAKING COLLINS BOUGHT IT.  The amazing super editor Maria Gomez is now my amazing super editor.  And the amazing Sara Kendall negotiated the deal along with the amazing Joanna Volpe, and I love my agents so much I just want to shower them with cupcakes and cookies.  (Strangely enough, the Frenchman pointed out all of their names end in “a” — as if this is somehow significant…  I think he just wants an excuse to be confused.)

Can you believe it!?  Seriously, guys, can you believe it?

I’ve been sitting on this news since the deal happened on November 17th, and I’m still in total shock.  I was only on submissions for 1 week!!!

As my writer friend Holly said, “HOLY FREAKING NUTS!”

AND HERE COME THE SCREAMS AGAIN…  ::inhale, exhale::  Want to see how silly I looked on the day Maria made an offer? I was doing happy dances around my dining room with my dog, Asimov.  I look RIDICULOUS, and I DON’T CARE. I’m pretty sure I listened to “Unbelievable” by EMF on repeat.

The next morning, when I was more coherent and waiting for the offer to magically transform into a deal, I filmed this:

YAAAAAY!!! Maria is so fantabulous! Seriously, chatting with her was like chatting with my BFF, and she’s so enthusiastic about Eleanor and Daniel and the Spirit-Hunters and the zombies and everything!!!!!

I couldn’t be happier, and I’m so thankful for all of this.  I’m thankful to Sara and Joanna for making this happen; I’m thankful to Maria for reading The Spirit-Hunters and loving it; and I’m thankful to the people at HarperCollins for buying it!!!!

So look for my book in stores in the summer or 2012!  Now, be sure to squeeeeeeeee with me!
