A Darkness Strange and Lovely Cover Reveal!
Well, this was supposed to go up TOMORROW, but as always seems to happen with me, the cover somehow leaked early onto Goodreads. O_O
So, I’ll just move my own cover reveal back a day–HUZZAH! In your face Twists of Fate!
And now, it is with great pride that I introduce to you the cover for the second book in the Something Strange and Deadly series! ♥
Following an all-out battle with the walking Dead, the Spirit-Hunters have fled Philadelphia, leaving Eleanor alone to cope with the devastating aftermath. But there’s more trouble ahead—the evil necromancer Marcus has returned, and his diabolical advances have Eleanor escaping to Paris to seek the help of Joseph, Jie, and the infuriatingly handsome Daniel once again. When she arrives, however, she finds a whole new darkness lurking in this City of Light. As harrowing events unfold, Eleanor is forced to make a deadly decision that will mean life or death for everyone. (Preorder the book here!)
And now, to help spread the word about the new cover, I’m doing a a giveaway for a signed copy of Something Strange and Deadly and a signed copy if Throne of Glass! All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what you think of the cover or tweet/facebook about it! ♥

Love love LOVE the cover! As I’ve said, it’s even more gorgeous than the cover for Something Strange and Deadly. It may have something to do with the fabulous gown that the model is sporting, heh. 😀 There’s just something about all the elements that mesh nicely and result in a *lovely* cover. 😉 Now I’m even more excited for ADSAL, though there’s still about 6 months?? What!?
Susan Dennard
October 28, 2012 @ 3:26 pm
I also think it’s even prettier! And I think it has just the perfect vibe to denote Paris. 😀 And yeah…still almost NINE MONTHS! 😛 But at least there’s the novella that’s only 7 months away…

This cover is brilliant. The change in pose from the first book makes me consider where this character’s at – even the (is it a) fascinator adds to the feeling of character growth. And are the cogs still in the background, just faded? Or am I reading too much into it? If so I like that it’s gone from the cogs to the clock face. So much can be taken from this cover.
Susan Dennard
October 28, 2012 @ 3:49 pm
Oh you’re so right that soooo much can be taken from the cover! There is a LOT of darkness for Eleanor in this book, and I think cover conveys that so well. 😀

I wouldn’t have thought green + purple would be a good color combo but the cover just uses it so well! Her dress is gorgeous and that headpiece.. *wants* I’m very glad they have the same girl on the cover. Overall I think the cover really fits the title. 🙂

October 28, 2012 @ 4:06 pm
Lovely! This one reminds me of the book trailer, actually. Maybe it’s because of the clockwork background? Do you think they’ll be keeping the ballgown theme throughout the series? The dresses seem to be getting more detailed.
Lothfleur
October 28, 2012 @ 4:08 pm
The Dress! The first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail on
facebook was “the dress!” And in full size, it’s indeed beautiful, (and
the fact that it’s in my favorite shades doesn’t hurt).
It’s a very
pretty cover and it goes along well with the first one 🙂
But, before entering, I was wondering, is this an international giveway?

It’s so beautiful! I love that the gears from the first book are also in the background and her gown is in the same position, but that the dress itself and her pose are different (the obscured arm to hide her injury?). I can’t wait to meet all the characters again and I think it’s awesome that the book is set in Paris!

I think the cover is marvelous! 😀 The color scheme really works, it pulls things together in a nice alluring but not over busy way. I see a lot of covers in bookstores today trying to mimic the special effects you see in movies, they’re so full and ‘wow’ that you often miss what the book is even about. This cover on the other hand is a different story entirely (ooo, I made a punny). I adore it. 🙂

What do i think? @_@ OMG!! My first reaction was “*jaw drop* GORGEOUS!!!” then after taking a second to recover from the AWESOMEness. I looked at it more carefully and noticed that Elenor is hiding her right hand…;D I always wondered if they would do that. And i am TOTALLY happy they did. The dress is also WAY beautiful and in PURPLE shades!!!
Love the clockwork tower behind her and the cute hat!! I will SO be pre-ordering this book!!! I can NOT WAIT!!! At least the sweet torture will end in JULY of 2013 (just kill me now X_X)
LOL. LOVE the cover & hope you All the Best Susan!! keep Rocking the Steampunk!!

Well blue and purple are pretty much my favourite colours so you got me already there. It seems to be a big trend right now to have a girl in a gorgeous dress on the cover, but I’m not complaining. I think the background really helps separate it from other book covers.

I love the cover!!! Your cover for “Something Strange and Deadly” was the first thing that drew me to the book, and I know that if I hadn’t known anything about “A Darkness Strange and Lovely” the cover would make me want to know more!
