The Good, the Bad, and the Weird: a film recommendation

5 out of 5 stars.

I love this movie — and yes, I realize I usually review books, but I want to spread the word about how SUPERFANTASTIC this movie is.  So…  Onwards.

The story is set in 1930s Manchuria.  The Bad is searching for a special treasure map that the Japanese want.  The Good is a bounty hunter searching for the Bad.  And the Weird, well…  He’s just there.  He accidentally steals the treasure map, though, so now the Bad is hunting the Weird while the Good is still hunting the Bad.

Now the Weird must run from the Bad, run from the Good, and run from the Japanese (who still want their map back).  Then there’s that tricky problem with the Manchurian bandits who also want the map.  Oh, and what the heck, the Weird decides he wants to find the treasure too.

Hilarity, adventure, and an AWESOME-TWIST-ENDING all ensue.

If you know me at all, then you know I love Korean TV-shows and Korean pop music.  So when I saw this film was available with English subtitles, I bought it immediately.

You should buy it immediately too.  I mean, the film is action-packed, laugh-your-booty-off-funny, and filled with grade A actors.  And it’s a South Korean Spaghetti Western — HOW COOL IS THAT?

Okay, enough shouting at you in all-caps.  You know how I feel about this film.  If it crosses your path, scoop it up and watch it.  You’ll be enormously entertained.
