Kick-booty Chicas and other Very Important Questions
POLL TIME AGAIN. Why? Because it’s fun. Plus my buddy Madeleine specifically asked me to. In case you’re wondering who I’ve shown above, we’ve got Princess Leia from Star Wars, The Bride from Kill Bill, Rogue from X-men, and Zoe from Firefly.
(Oh, and I just had to include some pictures of cute guys. I just can’t resist, and there can never be too many, you know? Left to right: Aloe Blacc, Daniel Henney, and Ryan Reynolds)
Alright, alright. Enough ogling. We’re moving on to Very Important Question Number 1:
[polldaddy poll=4286125]
I honestly don’t know who I would choose from that list. I’ll have to consider this very carefully. Weigh zombie-experience against death-wielding-prowess. Now Very Important Question Number 2:
[polldaddy poll=4286162]
There’s been all this crud about Disney and their princesses. Well, I like most of their princesses. (And I love what Meg Cabot had to say about it). And this leads us to Very Important Question Number 3:
[polldaddy poll=4286203]
I have to be honest, my FAVORITE animated Princess isn’t even from Disney. It’s Anastasia from Fox’s Anastasia. Seriously, Dimitri is the most smokin’ hot cartoon character ever created. Plus, he’s voiced by John Cusack, who (though he’s not that cute) has a totally sexy voice.
Okay, one more question, and I’ll leave you alone for now. But this is one is Really Very Important Question. You have to answer it, okay? Good.
[polldaddy poll=4286235]
Finished? Well, be sure to tell me which heroines I missed! Oh, and any specific requests for future polls?

I put down other and picked Sabrial by Garth Nix. The character Sabrial. Those zombies don’t stand a chance. I’ve never read The Princess Diaries or Nancy Drew but the movies were good. Okay the main characters were funny.

SABRIEL!!!! HOW COULD I FORGET!?!? She’s AWESOME. I totally fell in love with her, and I think I adore Lirael even more. The Abhorsen series was major inspiration for The Spirit-Hunters.
You should definitely read Princess Diaries (if you’re in to goofy contemporary YA, that is). It’s laugh-out-loud funny (as is all Meg Cabot stuff).

I haven’t read a Nancy Drew book since I was really young, but I’m not gonna lie – the Nancy Drew PC games are a hoot! My Mom got me hooked on them and though sometimes they’re a bit formulaic (and no doubt aimed at younger players than myself), they have the right mixture of sleuthing, creepy/mysterious scenarios and beautiful graphics. They might not be books, but the stories are still really good fun. They’re *interactive* stories 🙂

You’re the second person to say that about the PC games! I’m definitely gonna have to try one out next time I’m in the States. I’ve always eyed them longingly but never had the time. I shall simply have to make time, it would seem. 😉

oh no, Bella’s not getting invited to the slumber party! Well, the good news is, a creepy guy won’t be watching us through the window as we eat popcorn and talk trash!
Susan

HAHAHAHA. I hadn’t even THOUGHT of that!! Creeps at window ≠ Not cool for slumber party.

Per the last question: there are two things that France does fabulously that Japan DOES NOT. And those are?
Yeah. Bread and cheese. I think I just ate over 500 calories of brie in one sitting. Now onto some wine…
Susan
January 5, 2011 @ 4:48 pm
Um, yes. Having spent the holidays with French and Germans, I can attest to the bread and cheese. And pastries… 😛

Those were fun questions. Let’s not talk about what I ate over the holidays though. It’s bad enough that I have to spend the next eleven months in the gym making up for it.

Hahaha, for real. I shouldn’t have asked. I’m in the same boat, chica!!!

You FORGOT Buffy! Oy! LOL
Susan

You’re RIGHT! How could I!? I’d definitely want her by my side if there were zombies on the loose…

As if I would want Whiny Briony (aka. Bella from Twilight) at my Slumber Party. It’d be all “Where’s Edward? I miss Edward. *hopeless stare and furious blinking*”.
Also, I voted for Eleanor over Katniss because I’m assuming she’s a little more fierce and a little less leave-me-behind-to-save-her-own-skin *cough Peeta cough*. I love these polls! Argh, you’re awesome.
Susan
January 5, 2011 @ 4:50 pm
WOOOO, yay for Eleanor! And you’re right that she doesn’t leave anyone behind… GAR, can’t give away spoilers though. 😛
And yeah, no Bella at the party. Clearly I was in severe error for even suggesting her. 😉

I have ALWAYS had a crush on Dimitri! Totally swoon-worthy, even though he’s a cartoon xD

SIGH. I know. I <3 Dimitri forever. I can sing that entire soundtrack from start to finish by heart...
In fact, I sang "Once Upon a December" at a high school glee club performance. HA! Talk about obsessed... 🙂

I have to say that Mulan is the most kick-butt Disney princess ever. She’s assertive, a wicked fighter and Oriental. ‘Nuff said. Although the recent Disney girls – Tiana from THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG and Rapunzel from the new TANGLED – are pretty independent too.
Susan
January 5, 2011 @ 4:51 pm
Um, Mulan is definitely AWESOME. I haven’t seen TANGLED yet, but it’s on my list of Things To Do when I reach the States in February!! 😀

I love Anastasia as well because the relationship between her and Dimitri is the most developed, I think. But when it comes to protagonists, I have to pick Mulan. She’s just awesome.
Susan
January 5, 2011 @ 4:52 pm
Oh gosh, yes the Dimitri-Anya relationship was totally why that movie is my favorite animated feature…
But as far as Disney goes, Mulan is definitely the best! Certainly the most autonomous, kick-butt heroine in animation!!

My pants don’t fit. It’s tragic. Alas.
Belle wins my princess award. I want to be friends with her, I’ve seen that library!
Susan
January 6, 2011 @ 10:01 am
Hahaha, Belle does have the BEST library… Plus, she’s a nerdy reader, and that makes her pretty cool in my book.
Oh, and it’s one of the best Disney soundtracks!!
